Strategy for a 2.5 GPA

At a 2.5 GPA, the goal is not to apply everywhere — it’s to focus on colleges where scholarships are still realistically in play. This usually means targeting schools with structured merit criteria, understanding where test scores still matter, and being intentional about timing.

Key insight: At many colleges, test scores can move the needle more than GPA at this level. A higher ACT or SAT score can unlock significantly better scholarship offers — sometimes more than raising a GPA by half a point or more.
