🎓 Midwest Full Ride Scholarships (2026–2027)

Strategic Note: Delaware County, Indiana high school seniors who have already earned the Presidential Scholarship. The geographic restriction makes this a very small pool, which is exactly why local families should apply.

Strategic Note: A CMSD student with a strong academic record and a clear, demonstrated commitment to medicine who applies early and makes it through the February interviews.

Strategic Note: A small cohort of incoming freshmen who have gone well past casual involvement. Students who have led real change for underrepresented communities and can make that case in writing and in an interview.

Strategic Note: High-potential incoming DePaul students with demonstrated financial need, with priority consideration given to graduates of the Chicago Jesuit Academy middle school. The interview process is central — students who can articulate their potential, resilience, and commitment to their community tend to earn this award.

Strategic Note: Up to five students per incoming class — this is EIU's most prestigious undergraduate scholarship. Expect a 3.75+ GPA (or 3.5 with strong test scores), standout essays, real leadership, and a compelling campus interview. These are the students Honors College faculty will hold up as ambassadors.

Strategic Note: Students who pair a strong transcript with the ability to hold a room. The written application gets you to the interview round; the February interview decides it, so communication and presence matter as much as the GPA. The 3.85 no-test path is the quiet advantage here, because a strong unweighted GPA alone can carry a student all the way in.

Strategic Note: A very small cohort of on-campus first-time freshmen — typically with a 3.7+ high school GPA, a 32+ ACT or 1430+ SAT (superscored), and exceptional Honors application essays. Think student council presidents, valedictorians, or students with a compelling and articulate story. If your student checks all the boxes academically, this is absolutely worth the application effort.

Strategic Note: Students in the top slice of the applicant pool who apply early and present a complete, thoughtful file. The academic floor is a 3.75 GPA, which is not extreme, so the selection turns on the rest: leadership, community work, the essay, and how you come across at the January selection event. The deadline is the real filter. A complete application by December 1 is roughly three months earlier than the merit deadline most GVSU families are working toward, and a student who waits until February has already lost this one.

Strategic Note: About 18 incoming freshmen each year who meet at least two of three benchmarks (3.8 GPA, 27 ACT / 1270 SAT, top 10% class rank) and shine in an on-campus interview competition. These are ISU's most academically elite recruits — students who are competitive at flagship state universities but are drawn to ISU's tight-knit environment and full-ride value. Scholars must complete the Honors College curriculum, live on campus for three years, attend bi-monthly leadership meetings freshman year, complete a study abroad experience, and contribute ~15 hours of community service annually.

Strategic Note: Indiana students who have held a real part-time job or carried serious extracurricular commitments while keeping grades up, with a 3.0 or better and documented financial need. Cox is explicitly looking for resourcefulness and work ethic rather than raw test scores. Finalists complete a 30-minute online interview.

Strategic Note: A very small cohort — up to four students — who combine the highest academic achievement with genuine servant leadership. Think National Merit-caliber students who have also led meaningful community change, not just listed clubs.

Strategic Note: Fifteen students a year out of the entire Honors College pool. Winners pair elite grades and scores with leadership that shows up in the essays and the February interview.

Strategic Note: The top 15 performers at the Spartan Distinguished Scholarship Competition, which is about as academically exceptional as MSU's admitted pool gets. This is decided by exam performance and in-person interviews on a single day, not by GPA alone. Winners are announced each spring as Alumni and University Distinguished Scholars.

Strategic Note: Top incoming first-year applicants with exceptional academics (3.25+ GPA), demonstrated leadership, community service, and a standout essay who advance to the on-campus finalist event and perform well there. This is Michigan Tech's flagship full-ride for residents; for out-of-state students it covers full nonresident tuition — a massive award either way.

Strategic Note: High-achieving seniors from low-income families who become QuestBridge Finalists and rank Oberlin. Open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and international students attending high school in the U.S.

Strategic Note: Academically talented students, Ohio residents and non-residents alike, who are deeply invested in leadership, service, and civic life. The Distinction tier is the top MSP level, covering the full cost of attendance. If your student is a doer and a leader, not just a high scorer, MSP is worth the essay.

Strategic Note: An exceptionally small cohort, roughly 15 students per year, combining top academic credentials with real leadership and character. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must have applied to Purdue West Lafayette and completed the Honors College portion of the application by Nov. 1.

Strategic Note: Six high school seniors a year who pair top academics with real community involvement and can talk about it convincingly in an interview.

Strategic Note: A small, genuinely competitive cohort drawn exclusively from the University Excellence Scholar pool. In the most recent published cycle, 34 students were chosen out of 612 applicants. These are well-rounded high achievers with rigorous coursework, real leadership, meaningful community engagement, and the ability to hold their own in an interview.

Strategic Note: Top incoming first-year applicants — domestic or international — with at least a 3.5 weighted GPA and exceptional records in academics, leadership, extracurriculars, and civic engagement.

Strategic Note: Well-rounded Honors applicants with high test scores and strong records. Selection is holistic, not formula-based.

Strategic Note: The strongest applicants across all of UC's colleges, chosen from the November 1 applicant pool. UC describes them only as academically competitive students.

Strategic Note: Indiana seniors selected as Lilly Scholars by their county community foundation. Deadlines and criteria are set locally, so start with your county foundation early in senior year, not with UE.

Strategic Note: Illinois students who clear the PAP access criteria, get into the Honors College, and interview well. A small number are named each year.

Strategic Note: An extremely small group of Illinois resident freshmen at the very top of the applicant pool on academics, leadership, service and involvement. Invitation only, and out-of-state applicants are not eligible.

Strategic Note: Mizzou's most exceptional incoming freshmen — academically elite students (32+ ACT, 1420+ SAT, 3.5+ core GPA) who are also admitted to the Honors College and make a compelling case through essays and interviews. The class is very small (typically 5–8 recipients per year), so this is highly competitive. International applicants are not currently eligible due to interview constraints.

Strategic Note: Exceptional Nebraska STEM students with an ACT around 30+ and a 3.5+ GPA who are genuinely passionate about engineering, computer science, or a related field — and who can articulate why in an interview. This is a cohort-based program, so leadership and fit matter as much as raw scores.

Strategic Note: Nebraska residents with a perfect ACT 36 (or SAT 1570–1600) who graduated high school within the last year. This is the top of the UNL merit ladder — if your student hits that score, UNL is essentially free plus a $5,000 annual stipend to use however they want. Note: the 32–35 ACT pathway was discontinued for Fall 2026 due to budget constraints.

Strategic Note: High-achieving, high-need Iowa residents graduating from Iowa high schools who meet at least one academic threshold (3.7+ GPA, 28+ ACT, or 299+ RAI) and can write compellingly about overcoming adversity. First-generation college students get priority consideration.

Strategic Note: About ten top-tier Indiana high school seniors each year — students with 4.0 GPAs, at least a 27 ACT or 1280 SAT, and exceptional essays, recommendations, and interview presence. This is USI's most selective and prestigious award. The interview day in February is the real differentiator.

Strategic Note: First-generation, low-income international students from eligible countries in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, South Asia, or Southeast Asia who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, community leadership, and a tangible commitment to alleviating poverty. Only six scholars are selected per year — this is among the most selective scholarships at UW–Madison.

Strategic Note: Students who genuinely want to practice medicine in urban communities and can show why. The program is built around a health disparities learning community, and reviewers read for that mission fit, not just for numbers.

Strategic Note: A small, highly selective cohort of incoming freshmen — typically students with a 4.0 GPA, enrollment in the Honors Program, and a track record of meaningful leadership and community engagement. If your student is a standout academically and as a leader, this is absolutely worth applying for.
