Strategic Note: This is ASU's strongest listed competitive academic award. The published floor is important, but families should treat it as a true competitive scholarship, not a guaranteed grid award. The students with the best shot will usually be freshmen who are comfortably above the minimum GPA/test score range and who submit a complete scholarship application on time.

Strategic Note: Approximately five incoming first-year students drawn from roughly the top 2% of all applicants. Strong candidates typically carry a cumulative GPA above 4.5 (weighted) and an ACT of 35 or SAT of 1530 if submitted, plus exceptional leadership and service records. About twelve finalists are invited to interview — excellence on that interview day matters enormously.

Strategic Note: One student out of the entire incoming class, so go in clear-eyed. Realistically this goes to someone with a near-perfect transcript, strong test scores, and the kind of presence that stands out across a full weekend of faculty dinners and conversations. The honest reason to pursue it is not the fellowship itself but the weekend. Everyone invited to INSIGNIS is in the running for Honors Premier full tuition and other scholarship money, so accepting the invitation is high value even when the Baker goes to someone else.

Strategic Note: A very small, carefully chosen cohort — students who bring genuine intellectual curiosity, a breadth of experience, demonstrated leadership, and the kind of community impact that goes beyond a strong GPA. Academic excellence is expected, but National Scholars are chosen as much for who they're becoming as for what they've already achieved. Competitive profiles typically include top 10% class rank, 4.5+ weighted GPA, and ACT 32+ or SAT 1450+, though no floors are published.

Strategic Note: High-achieving graduates of Chicago public or charter high schools who bring exceptional academics, demonstrated leadership, and clear financial need — typically the standout candidate their school nominates once every few years.

Strategic Note: One student a year, out of a pool that has to write three real essays. That is a narrow needle, but not an impossible one, because the applicant pool at a regional university this size is measured in dozens rather than thousands. A student with a 3.9 and a 30 who writes with genuine feeling about the Delta has a meaningfully better shot at this than at any comparable full ride in the state. The essays are what separate people, and the third prompt in particular rewards a student who actually knows their community. Anyone who qualifies should apply, because the four runner-up Magnolia awards come out of the same pool.

Strategic Note: This is a reach-level scholarship even for excellent students. Realistic winners are usually among the strongest students in Duke's admitted pool, with exceptional academics, deep intellectual curiosity, leadership, and accomplishments that stand out beyond the normal high-achiever profile.

Strategic Note: This is a very selective full-ride Honors College scholarship. Realistically, it goes to about 20 top incoming students each year who have strong grades, strong test scores if submitted, leadership, community involvement, standout essays, and a strong interview.

Strategic Note: A very small cohort of regional seniors with standout leadership, service records, and strong performance across semifinalist interviews and a two-day finalist visit to campus.

Strategic Note: This is the best offer Fisk makes, and it goes to a very small number of students at the very top of the applicant pool. Two things quietly decide it. First, you have to submit test scores. Fisk states plainly that test-optional applicants are not considered for full tuition scholarships, so applying test-optional takes this award off your table no matter how good your grades are. Second, timing. Priority goes to Early Action, and Fisk says outright that after those rounds awards depend on what money is left. A strong student who applies in March is competing for leftovers. If your family needs a full ride to make Fisk work, treat this as a long shot worth chasing rather than a plan, and apply Early Action with scores in hand.

Strategic Note: This is restricted to Florida-resident National Merit Finalists who complete the first-choice college process. It is extremely valuable, but it is not available to the general FAU applicant pool.

Unofficial benchmarks from recent finalist classes show ACT 34+ or SAT 1500+ — but test scores alone won't get you there. Extraordinary impact at the county, state, or national level, meaningful leadership positions, and something genuinely exceptional about your story are what separate finalists from strong-but-not-invited applicants.

Strategic Note: A very small number of high-achieving University Scholars whose documented financial need would otherwise limit their ability to enroll.

Strategic Note: Incoming first-time freshmen in the Honors College who are first-generation college students, show financial need through the FAFSA, live in Georgia or a Georgia border state, and stand out strongly enough in the Honors scholarship process to be invited for interview review.

Strategic Note: This is Georgia State's top scholarship competition. Families should think of it as a full-ride Honors College award for a very small group of incoming first-year students with exceptional academics, leadership, service, intellectual curiosity, strong essays, and interview strength.

Strategic Note: Students at the very top of JSU's applicant pool. Under the Financial Aid Office criteria that means a 3.50 or better college preparatory GPA paired with an ACT of 32 or an SAT of 1420, from a single test date. Awards are limited by available funding each year, so applying early in the November window matters more than families expect.

Strategic Note: Top 8–10 incoming freshmen each year with at least a 30 ACT or 1360 SAT and 3.75+ GPA plus exceptional leadership, service, writing, and interviews.

Strategic Note: Every student admitted to the Cormier Honors College receives at least a $500/year renewable scholarship — that's a guarantee. Larger awards ($2,000–$10,000/year and full rides) go to the strongest Honors admits after holistic review. The GPA floor for a typical invitation is 3.75, but Longwood reviews applications holistically and lower GPAs don't automatically disqualify a student.

Strategic Note: Top entering freshmen with exceptional academic records, leadership, service, and a strong Scholars Weekend performance. This is the kind of award where the minimum application path is not the real bar; the winners are usually among LSU's strongest admitted students.

Strategic Note: National Merit Finalists who intentionally choose Louisiana Tech and list it as first choice with National Merit. This is one of Tech's strongest affordability plays because it covers tuition, fees, housing, and meals.

Strategic Note: National-caliber students with exceptional academics, leadership, service, and clear potential for impact who excel in portfolio review and interviews.

Strategic Note: Roughly 15–20 of the most competitive entering freshmen each year, typically with ACT scores in the mid‑30s, near‑perfect GPAs, and exceptional leadership and service records.

Strategic Note: This is The W's full ride and the single most valuable thing on this page, so treat the November priority deadline as the real one. Students who win tend to clear the 24 ACT bar comfortably rather than sit right on it, and they interview well — a panel round means personality and preparation count for as much as the transcript. The commitment attached is real, though. You are signing up for four years of honors coursework, a required residence hall, and a summer abroad, and the award cancels your other offers rather than adding to them. Worth it for a full ride, but go in clear-eyed.

Strategic Note: Morehead State's very top Honors applicants. This is not just an Honors admission perk; students need to stand out across academics, course rigor, leadership, service, essays, sample work, recommendation, and the interview or finalist process.

Strategic Note: This is Murray State's top competitive academic prize. The minimum line gets a student into the conversation, but winners are usually the students who combine strong academics with a strong essay, strong interviews, Honors fit, and high-achievement potential.

Strategic Note: First-time freshmen who are U.S. citizens with at least a 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale, a compelling application package, and demonstrated leadership and community involvement. ACT/SAT scores are optional for 2026–2027, but strong scores can still strengthen a candidacy in a competitive pool.

Strategic Note: High-achieving Charlotte-Mecklenburg high school graduates from low-income backgrounds who are selected for a CTI cohort — either the Ally Financial cohort (data analytics focus) or the Lowe's cohort (business competencies). Selection emphasizes financial need, academic achievement, program fit, and the ability to commit to cohort activities and internship pathways.

Strategic Note: A very small cohort — just two students per year — drawn from the very top of Sewanee's admitted class. Exceptional academic records and overall strength of application are the hallmarks; no specific test-score floor is officially published.

Strategic Note: Top academic freshmen with around a 3.8+ GPA and ACT of 30 or higher (or SAT about 1400+), plus strong leadership and service records.

Strategic Note: A tiny cohort each year — just two scholars — with unusually balanced records: rigorous academics, real leadership roles (in academics, athletics, service, faith, or civic life), strong written and oral communication, personal discipline through athletics or fitness, and evidence of creativity or scholarly curiosity. Interviews are part of the process and finalists come to campus.

Strategic Note: A highly select group of first-time freshmen in biology, chemistry, or pre-health who carry a 3.5+ weighted GPA and ACT 28+ or SAT 1310+, and write a standout essay about their commitment to health careers in underserved communities. This is a full-ride honor named for one of TSU's most celebrated alumni — expect serious competition.

Strategic Note: A 27 ACT sits well above what Tougaloo typically admits, so if your student is at 27 or higher with a 3.5, they are a genuine contender rather than a long shot. But the numbers only get the file opened. A committee reads everything, including that essay about obstacles, and students who answer it with one specific story beat students with slightly better scores who write something generic. The other quiet factor is money running out. Apply in the fall of senior year, not in March.

Strategic Note: A very small group at the very top of the applicant pool — 33+ ACT with a 3.7 GPA, headed to the main campus in Troy. TROY calls the pool limited, so hitting the numbers gets you considered rather than guaranteed. If your student is in this band, get the portal application in well before December 1 rather than at the buzzer.

Strategic Note: A tiny cohort of students with exceptional academics, leadership, service, and personal character who rise to the top of Tulane’s national applicant pool and perform well in the finalist process.

Strategic Note: One student a year, out of everyone who clears a 29 ACT and shows up to compete. Realistically, the winner is a student with scores well above the 29 floor, a track record of leading something rather than just joining it, and an essay that reads like a person rather than a resume. Union weights the essay heavily and says so. The encouraging part — every student invited who attends the weekend leaves with some money, so the downside of competing and not winning the top prize is essentially zero. If you get the invitation, go.

Strategic Note: Florida-resident National Merit Finalists who commit to UF as their first-choice school and clear the state's Benacquisto eligibility checklist. If your student has already made Finalist, this is the path to a debt-free UF.

Strategic Note: Realistically, one out-of-state Honors admit per year — sometimes a handful — with exceptional academics, standout leadership, and a compelling service record. Think top-of-the-pool nonresident applicants who also nail the interview.

Strategic Note: National-caliber scholars — think top-of-the-class students with a rigorous course load AND a real leadership or impact story. Your student needs to rise to the very top of UM’s applicant pool and shine in the Premier interview process. This is the most selective merit award at UM, full stop.

Strategic Note: Think national-caliber applicants. Ole Miss runs one of the largest Stamps programs in the country, but each class is still tiny, so winners tend to be students with top grades and test scores plus a genuinely standout leadership story. If you would be competitive at highly selective private schools, this is worth a real effort.

Strategic Note: This is one of the most selective scholarships in the country. Realistic winners are not just strong students; they usually have exceptional academics, major leadership, strong character, service, and clear impact beyond the classroom.

Strategic Note: Nationally competitive freshmen with ~4.2+ weighted GPA, strong leadership/service, and competitive interviews; ~20 chosen.

Strategic Note: This is UNCG's top Global Honors scholarship track. The most realistic students have excellent academics, leadership, service, and a strong match with the Honors mission. Some awards can be very large, but families should not assume every Honors admit receives the top package.

Strategic Note: Approximately 25 incoming first-year students who have built exceptional academic records in the most rigorous coursework available to them, paired with a genuine track record of leadership, service, and impact — not just participation.

Strategic Note: Florida NP semifinalists who select USF and meet all state requirements

Strategic Note: Every semifinalist who advances and files the paperwork gets this, so the hard part happened back in eleventh grade. The step families miss is the first-choice designation. If you do not list Southern Miss as your number one with the National Merit Corporation, none of the rest of it pays out, and that single form is worth more than the entire application. Students who are choosing USM over a pricier private school with a thinner offer are exactly who ends up here.

Strategic Note: A cohort of roughly 15–20 students per year selected from a highly competitive pool. These are students who combine elite academic credentials with authentic, documented leadership, community service, and intellectual curiosity — and who interview exceptionally well. This is a reach-level award even for top students.

Strategic Note: Roughly 30–40 scholars selected nationally each year from a pool of over 3,000 nominees. Winners are exceptional all-around students — the kind who lead meaningfully, serve their communities, and think independently. GPA minimums and test scores are not part of the selection criteria.

Strategic Note: Any National Merit Finalist who lists UWF as their first-choice school, is admitted, and gets their Finalist letter to UWF before day one. There's no separate competition — the Finalist status is the qualifier.

Strategic Note: A very small group of incoming first-year Honors students with outstanding academics, rigorous coursework, leadership, service, strong essays, and a strong interview. Families should treat this as UWG's top Honors competition, not a predictable automatic award.

Strategic Note: A small pool by definition - Blair enrolls only a couple hundred undergrads total, so the applicant field here is tiny compared to Vanderbilt's general merit awards. That's the opportunity. The winner is a strong auditioning musician who has genuinely done arts outreach - taught lessons in under-resourced schools, built a community ensemble, run free concerts - and who qualifies on need. If that describes your student, your odds here are dramatically better than at any signature scholarship.

Strategic Note: Top academic-merit first-year applicants. National Merit finalists who apply by Nov. 1 and name VCU first choice to the NMSC by May 31 are guaranteed eligibility.

Strategic Note: An exceptionally small group of pre-matriculant applicants — specifically preparatory school students — whose records stand apart even within the already elite Institute Scholars pool. Think: documented leadership under genuine adversity, varsity athletic commitment, and an unambiguous path toward military commissioning or national service.

Strategic Note: Virginia residents graduating from a Virginia high school who are Pell Grant-eligible with significant financial need, show strong academic potential, and demonstrate leadership promise. First-generation college students are strongly valued. About 200 students are selected each year — that's meaningful scale, but the need threshold is real: if your family doesn't qualify for Pell, PSI is unlikely to be part of your package.

Strategic Note: Wake Forest typically names just one Graylyn Scholar per year — so yes, a cohort of one. Expect near-perfect grades, a genuinely demanding course load, national-level leadership, and authentic service that goes well beyond resume-building.

Strategic Note: Only 5 West Virginia students per year — selected from the 20 Bucklew Scholars — receive this award. These are WVU's top academic recruits: near-perfect GPAs, outstanding test scores, and exceptional profiles across leadership, service, and scholarship. This is genuinely one of the most selective full-ride scholarships at any public university in the country.

Strategic Note: Highly selective; ~8-9 chosen from ~200 semi-finalists. Finalists typically rank top 5% of class, 1500+ SAT or 33+ ACT (test-optional), with demonstrated leadership.

Strategic Note: Two students per entering class — period. These are the rare students who walk into the Scholars Day interview and leave everyone in the room thinking, 'That person is something special.' Exceptional academics, yes, but also a leadership story and a service record that feel genuinely transformative rather than resume-padded.
