Do I need a separate application? No. If you apply to UTRGV by December 1, you’ll automatically be considered.
Does test-optional affect my chances? You can still qualify test-optional. UTRGV also looks at your GPA, class rank, and course rigor.
Does UTRGV superscore? Yes. UTRGV uses the highest section scores across multiple ACT or SAT attempts when awarding scholarships, so sending all your scores can only help.
Can I stack with waivers? Yes. If you’re a nonresident and your scholarship is $1,000 or more, you may also get the in-state tuition waiver.

UTRGV’s Honors College gives high-achieving students a smaller community inside a large public university. For first-gen families, think of it as an “academic home base” with extra mentoring, smaller classes, and research opportunities that set students apart for grad school or medical school applications. Admission is by application, not invitation-only, so motivated students can put themselves forward.
