🧰 CRP Scholarship Tool — What’s Coming in Version 1.1
We’re actively improving the CRP Scholarship Tool so it’s easier to explore schools and scholarship opportunities without having to “start over” every time you change direction.
1) Two ways to start (Dual Entry Paths)
- Browse by State: pick a state to see colleges and scholarships there (college search becomes a within-state filter).
- Search by College (National): type a college name and search across all states (state filter is disabled while a college is selected).
- Clear the college to return to neutral/browse mode.
2) National college autocomplete
- Works across the full database (not state-gated).
- Handles common patterns like “University of ___” and abbreviations.
- Shows the state in search results (so “U of M” doesn’t become a guessing game).
3) Faster exploration shortcuts
- State inside a college card becomes a clickable pill.
- Clicking the state pill will:
- set the state filter
- clear the college search
- keep GPA / ACT / SAT / category / other filters
- refresh results automatically
4) Advanced filters (optional drawer)
- An extra filter drawer that applies at the college level after results are grouped.
- Examples include: HBCU, religious affiliation, and other college attributes (more coming later).
- Optional, additive, and easy to turn off.
5) Residency-aware enhancements (future)
- We’re planning a dynamic checkbox tied to an In-State / Out-of-State toggle:
- In-State: “Show state aid” (surfaces state grants & merit programs).
- Out-of-State: “Show OOS waivers & reciprocity” (WUE/MSEP/NEBHE, tuition waivers, etc.).
- Off by default — designed to be educational and not misleading.
6) Data groundwork (already underway)
- We’ve started storing college-level “OOS context” (reciprocity notes, waivers, honors-based discounts, caveats).
- This supports future filters and clearer explanations directly on college cards.
We build in public — but we don’t promise dates. Version numbers reflect focus areas, not deadlines.
