Our Data Methodology & Scholarship Verification Process

How We Build the College Ready Parent Database

Most scholarship sites are “black boxes.” They ask for your student’s data, run it through a hidden algorithm, and spit out “matches” that often lead to sales funnels. We don’t do that here.

I built this database because I wanted to see the actual math behind college affordability—without the gatekeeping. We track 400+ colleges and 6,000+ individual scholarships, all vetted by hand and updated daily.

The Anatomy of Our Data

We don’t just list a school and hope for the best. To give you a clear “Net Price” picture, our system tracks over 115 unique data points across two specialized databases.

55+ College Data Points

We analyze the structural DNA of every campus, including:

  • Common Data Set Averages: Real merit aid percentages.
  • Cost of Attendance: Direct vs. Indirect cost breakdowns.
  • Regional Reciprocity: Eligibility for WUE, MSEP, or ACM.
  • Priority Deadlines: When the “good” money actually runs out.

60+ Scholarship Data Points

We track the granular rules for 6,000+ awards, including:

  • The “Floor”: Exact GPA and Test Score minimums.
  • Stacking Rules: Can you combine this with state grants?
  • Renewal Criteria: Credit hour and GPA requirements to keep it.
  • Automatic Certainty: Verified “guaranteed” status vs. competitive.

Our Vetting Process

College pricing is a moving target. To keep our state and regional hubs accurate, we don’t just “scrape” the web; we follow a rigorous verification cycle:

  • Direct Sourcing: Every number is pulled directly from University Financial Aid portals and State Higher Education offices.
  • Manual Verification: A human verifies the “Automatic” status to ensure it doesn’t require a hidden, separate application that might catch you off guard.
  • Living Data: Because we add to the database daily, your “Financial Safety” list is built on the most current 2026–2027 entry data available.

The Bottom Line: This site is a living project. It’s built by a parent, for parents, using the same data that professional consultants charge thousands of dollars to find. Our goal is to give you a predictable path to a lower “net price.”
