How to Use This Site – College Ready Parent

👋 Hey There, You’re Not Lost. You’re Early.

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re looking for scholarships, state aid, or just trying to figure out what to do next.

If that’s you, you’re me.

I’m not a counselor. I’m not an expert. I’m a parent. One who wanted to get my daughter through college without burying her or myself in debt.

This website wasn’t built to go viral. It was built so that another parent (maybe you) wouldn’t have to open 17 tabs just to figure out how the FAFSA works or what your kid’s 30 ACT actually means.

🧭 What You’ll Find Here

Everything here is designed to be printable, scannable, and usable. I call them:

Fridge Printables

  • ✅ Grade-by-grade college checklists, broken down by season
  • ✅ A Brag Sheet Builder that helps your kid stand out
  • ✅ A Recommendation Toolkit that makes rec letters easy
  • ✅ A College Comparison Sheet so you can compare real offers, not just flashy brochures
  • ✅ PDF versions of everything, built to stick on your fridge and help you stay focused

🤝 What This Site Is (and Isn’t)

This is:
  • Parent-first
  • Free
  • Practical
  • Built by someone who’s still in it
This is not:
  • A paywall maze
  • A sales funnel
  • A generic checklist from a counselor who hasn’t filled one out themselves

🧩 How to Use It

  • Start Here: Big picture and a clear next step
  • Checklists: Broken down by grade and season
  • Scholarships & Aid: National awards, state grants, and school-specific scholarships
  • Tools: PDFs, organizers, and planning sheets
  • REAL Talk: Hard truths, gut checks, and things no one told us

You don’t need to read everything today.

You just need to know this: You’re not behind. You’re just early for the next thing.

And this site? It’s the map I wish someone had handed me.
