The three most overlooked on this list
Legacy Award. Stetson defines family broadly: sibling, parent, stepparent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or legal guardian, including anyone who attended the graduate or law school. You have to be admitted by February 15 and you can only claim it before your first semester. Note that students receiving athletic aid are not eligible.
SAGE Tuition Rewards. Stetson honors either your SAGE total or your Stetson merit award, whichever is larger. That makes it a floor rather than a bonus, and it only pays off for families who registered years earlier, usually middle school. Worth knowing about now if you have a younger child.
School of Music Talent Scholarship. Open to non-majors who play in ensembles, not just music majors. If your student plays well and is majoring in biology, this is free money most families never think to ask about.

Do these stack with my merit scholarship?
Most of the small ones do. Legacy, the Young Scholars award, Community Advocate, and the shooting scholarship are all designed to layer on top. The exceptions are the big ones: LaValle Creative Arts is full tuition and behaves like a Premier award, and SAGE replaces rather than adds. Remember the all-sources ceiling applies to everything.
Which of these run on the December 1 Premier deadline?
Four of them: Bonner, LaValle Creative Arts, Lawson, and Sullivan Writing. All four require you to apply for admission first via Early Decision, Early Action, or Rolling, then complete the scholarship application in the Hatter Portal by December 1.
What if there is no deadline listed for an award?
That usually means it runs on a departmental or hiring calendar rather than an admissions calendar. Community Advocate follows residence life hiring. Music follows the audition calendar. Study abroad funds follow program terms. For those, contact the department directly rather than financial aid.
Can current Stetson students apply for these?
Several, yes. Community Advocate is a sophomore-and-up role. The study abroad funds are open to any undergraduate in good standing. Scholarship Manager is explicitly for returning students as well as incoming ones.
How will we know if we won something?
Award changes show up in your Stetson financial aid offer. One quirk worth expecting: if you are matched to a donor-funded scholarship, Stetson may rename part of your existing aid to the donor’s fund rather than adding new money. Your total does not always go up, but the connection to the donor can be genuinely useful for networking.
Are any of these restricted?
Yes, and we have flagged them on the cards. The Lettie Pate Whitehead award is a need-based scholarship for women from designated Southern states. The Global Citizen Scholarship is full tuition but limited to international students from specific world regions, so it is not available to U.S. applicants. LaValle requires a creative arts major and a portfolio or audition.
Stetson runs an Honors Program, not an Honors College. The distinction matters more than it sounds. There is no separate honors curriculum you have to complete instead of your major, and there is no honors scholarship attached to admission. What you get is a cohort, a set of signature courses, dedicated housing in Conrad Hall, and access to funding and mentorship you would not otherwise see.
Be clear-eyed about this: Honors admission is not a scholarship.
Stetson does not attach a dollar award to Honors acceptance. Your merit money comes from the automatic tiers or from a Premier award. What Honors adds is a grant-writing course that trains students to win external funding, a tutorial where they design their own course, and a faculty network. That is real value, but it is not a line item on your bill. Do not let a family member tell you Honors will lower the price.
How to apply: Apply to Stetson by Early Decision (November 1) or Early Action (November 15). The Honors application then appears in your Hatter Portal.

The program is built around two signature seminars and a run of short courses in between. The first-year seminar asks what a just world looks like. The junior seminar asks what it means to live and lead a life that matters. Between them, students take a series of 0-credit and 2-credit courses: a praxis course building a community project, a workshop course writing an external grant proposal, a tutorial where they design their own course, an internship course, and a book club where students choose the reading.

Is the workload heavier?

What is the Stetson 4+3 pathway?
Honors students interested in law have a route into Stetson University College of Law, and Stetson also offers an accelerated bachelor’s-to-JD track. If pre-law is the goal, this is one of the strongest reasons to consider Stetson specifically.
Stetson is small, private, and about 2,500 undergraduates on a 185-acre campus in DeLand, which puts it between Orlando and Daytona Beach. Founded in 1883, it is one of Florida’s oldest private universities. What it is known for is not breadth. It is a handful of programs where a student gets access to things that normally do not exist until graduate school.
The program that puts Stetson on the map: The Roland George Investments Program. Stetson business students manage a real portfolio worth millions of dollars in actual stocks and bonds, not simulated money. Students research securities on Bloomberg terminals, defend buy recommendations to an investment committee, and present in a boardroom in the Lynn Business Center. The program has been running since 1980 and is one of the oldest and largest student-run funds in the country. Class size is capped at roughly 20 to 25 students in their senior year. Stetson recently expanded it further and is building a dedicated Investments Center on campus.
School of Business Administration: Accredited by AACSB for both business and accounting, which fewer than 200 schools worldwide can claim. Beyond Roland George, the school runs the Hatter Angel Network, where students invest in privately held companies, plus a Certified Financial Planning track, the Prince Entrepreneurship Program, and the Centurion Sales Program.
Pre-law and the 3+3 pathway: Stetson owns its own law school, in Gulfport, and undergraduates can move into it on an accelerated track that earns both degrees in six years. If your student is law-minded, very few undergraduate programs offer a direct in-house route like this.
School of Music: NASM-accredited, and unusually welcoming to non-majors. Audition-based scholarships are open to students in ensembles regardless of major.
Environmental science and health sciences: Both draw on Florida’s water systems and Central Florida’s healthcare corridor for fieldwork and internships. Stetson also runs accelerated pathways into osteopathic medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy through a partnership program for students who qualify early.
Digital arts and creative arts: Worth naming because they carry money. The LaValle Creative Arts Scholarship pays full tuition for students in Studio Art, Art History, Digital Arts, or Theatre Arts. That is a real reason for an arts-serious student to look here.
The honest summary: Stetson is a place where a motivated undergraduate gets hands on things early. Real money, real clients, real publication, real courtroom.
