Most do. Bridges, Choose Ohio First, and FIRST Robotics are designed to layer on top. Awards that cover tuition (like Access Fellows or ROTC) can reduce other tuition-only awards so the total doesn’t double-pay the same bill.
What exactly does Access Fellows cover?
For Ohio families earning $35,000 or less, tuition and fees are guaranteed through a mix of grants and Miami funds. Housing, food, books, and transportation are not covered, so plan for those. There’s no separate application: just get admitted and file the FAFSA by February 1 each year.
Who should apply to Bridges?

Who qualifies for the Myaamia Heritage Award?

What’s this about a thank-you letter?
Miami sometimes replaces part of a student’s institutional scholarship with a donor-funded one. When that happens, the student gets an email in the fall asking for a thank-you letter to the donor. Skipping it can mean losing the scholarship, temporarily or permanently.
Miami’s Honors College is a true residential college. First-year Honors students live together in the Honors Residential College, take smaller Honors seminars, and get their own advising team. There’s no separate essay-heavy application to get considered: your student simply indicates interest on the Miami application. Selection is still competitive, and test scores are not required for Honors itself.

Does my student need test scores for Honors?
No. Test-optional students get full consideration for the Honors College and the Prodesse Scholarship. Only Presidential Fellows requires scores.
Do Honors students automatically get money?
Not automatically. Prodesse goes to top Honors admits who aren’t Presidential Fellows, and Presidential Fellows goes to 15 students. Every Honors student still keeps their automatic merit award.
How does Prodesse renew?
For up to four years, with a 3.00 cumulative GPA and full-time enrollment on the Oxford campus.
Can out-of-state students join Honors?
Yes. Honors admission doesn’t depend on residency, and non-residents keep the larger non-resident merit award on top of any Honors scholarship.

Miami is one of the easiest schools in the country to plan a budget around. The merit chart is simple (weighted GPA plus residency), there’s no scholarship essay to write for most of the money, and the Tuition Promise means the price you see freshman year is the price you pay senior year. That predictability is rare at a public university.
The catch is timing. Nearly everything valuable at Miami runs through December 1, the grades your student applies with are the grades that set the award, and the Presidential Fellows full ride now requires a test score. Out-of-state families often come out better than they expect, with up to $22,000 a year in automatic merit, and Indiana border-county families can pay Ohio rates. Add Bridges in senior fall and the FAFSA by February 1, and Miami can land well below its sticker price.
